Michele discovered Connection, Cooperation & Control ™ (CCC) in 2016 and embraced it after experiencing profound changes in her relationships with her own dogs. She completed her CCC Instructor Certification in 2018 so she could share her enthusiasm for CCC with other handler and dog teams. Michele is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator, who can administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), AKC Community Canine, Urban CGC, Video Home Manners, Trick Dog, and Fetch Dog tests.
With a Masters of Education degree, 16 years of teaching experience in elementary and special education, and over 25 years of experience working with animals, Michele continues to further her education about dogs through workshops with Suzanne Clothier, Bob Bailey, Sue Sternberg, and others. She has completed a variety of training classes, including Obedience, Nosework, Rally Obedience, and Cooperative Care, to deepen her relationships with her own dogs.
Since 2002, Michele has been a volunteer for Canine Companions, including raising Future Service Dog puppies, teaching local training classes, and as a Canine Companions Therapy Dog Program Evaluator. She also volunteered for 18 years with Pets On Wheels, National Capital Therapy Dogs, and the Intermountain Therapy Animals Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program providing animal-assisted activities and animal-assisted therapies.
Michele lives with her Miniature Dachshund, Rocket, her current Canine Companions Future Service Dog in training, and her VERY patient husband.
